Food Bank & Garden Dance
October 16, 2011
Yesterday, as I was re-bagging beans, rice, and laundry soap at our local foodbank and listening to Bill & Sylvia Rossow handing out boxes of food and words of encouragement to people lined up, I realized again how humbled I am. How lucky. How blessed. These people are as varied as the general population, their reasons for being there would break your heart. As much as I love fashion and the chance to express myself through it, I would like to encourage you to give to your local foodbank. Our foodbank buys toilet paper, laundry soap and needs a new refrigerator. Send a check. Volunteer a little time. Donate food. I know you are asked, almost on a daily basis, to give to some charity or another. But these little local foodbanks have zero overheard. It's all volunteer and it directly helps our community with what we all need. Food. And encouragement and a smile. Oh, and by the way, come on down to Garden Frolic and raindance, we're stuffed to the gills with new, new, new. We'll put a box out for canned and packaged goods and I'll run it to the foodbank. Life is good. We're all part of God's universe, not alone.
